Alec made his test debut during the 1996 Pacific Rim Championship, but missed the rest of the year with a knee injury. He came back to start against Wales in January of 1997 and scored his first international try against Hong Kong in a 1998 Pacific Rim match ... He was a starter in all three of the USA’s 1999 RWC matches and three of five Pacific Rim Cup matches during the ‘99 season. Also in 1999, toured Australia and Great Britain. Parker went on to start three of four World Cup matches, and 10 of 13 USA tests in 2003, after taking a break from international rugby in 2000 and 2001, Alec was recalled after Aspen won the 2002 USA Rugby Super League title and played in four of seven tests that same year. Alec is now sixth on the all-time list of USA cap winners.
