Paul was a part of the All-American teams from 2001 to 2003 before earning his first cap in April of 2003 against Spain. In 2004, Paul joined the Amatori club in Italy. In 2006, Paul moved to the Celtic League to play for the Gwent Dragons. He left in 2008 and currently is playing for Overmach Parma

Paul graduated from Pella High School in 1994. At the age of 20 Paul began playing rugby while in college at the University of Northern Iowa where he received a bachelor of arts in General Studies. Other sports Paul took an interest in while growing up were football and wrestling. Paul enjoys watching movies, playing guitar and studying languages in his spare time.
